Profile

A rare left-arm wrist spinner and aggressive middle-order batter, proven in ECB Premier League cricket and now a Probationary Candidate for MCC Playing Membership.

I have been involved in county cricket since the age of ten, first with Essex, then with Suffolk and the Warwickshire U18 pathway, and now compete at the top of the recreational game: I play East Anglian Premier League cricket for Sudbury CC, spent the 2025 season with Barnt Green CC in the Birmingham & District Premier League, and am a Probationary Candidate for MCC Playing Membership, for whom I have already taken a five-wicket haul and scored 38 not out. Season after season I finish as the leading wicket-taker for the teams I play for, taking key wickets in every format and winning matches.

In July 2026 I took 6/70 off 16 overs against Copdock & Old Ipswichian, second in the East Anglian Premier League at the time, including the wicket of South Africa ODI all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana, and made 30 not out off 28 balls against Witham the week before.

The chinaman advantage

Left-arm wrist spin is the rarest bowling type in cricket. A chinaman bowler is unique in T20 cricket because batters rarely face left-arm wrist spin, making it harder to read and attack. I have been bowling chinaman since I was seven years old, and over that time I have developed a full range of variations and learnt how batters react to them, helping me create wicket-taking opportunities and build pressure. In a format where taking wickets can quickly change the game, I have learnt that as a chinaman bowler I am a real match-winner, and I have delivered in situations of significant pressure. I turn the ball both ways, disguise the googly, and use the arm ball and the flipper.

Five months in India

I spent five months in Chennai working with AC Prathiban — the former Tamil Nadu and Puducherry spinner, and personal coach to India mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. The trip was all about development: I went to learn about spin in a country known for producing world-class spin bowlers, and one that loves cricket. Training every day alongside IPL and Ranji Trophy players, I worked on my variations under a coach who develops mystery spin at the highest level.

Batting, fielding and physical preparation

Batting is a genuine focus of my game: middle order, intent, a high strike rate. Highlights include 30 not out off 28 balls v Witham (EAPL, 2026), 38 not out for MCC, and 53 in Essex league cricket.

Fielding is a big part of my cricket. I enjoy the challenge of stopping the ball and putting my body on the line, and I set standards in the field with energy, consistency and encouragement of the team.

Strength and fitness matter to me. Building muscle and strength is part of my routine, and I train year-round to be physically fit, powerful and durable across long spells and full seasons.

Education, training and coaches

Advanced BTEC Diploma in Business and A Level Politics — Framlingham College, Suffolk; 10 GCSEs — Gosfield School, Essex.

My spin coach is AC Prathiban (see Five months in India, above). My batting coach is Kemsley Robb (Essex CCC). Other coaches: Ben Stephens and Jack Beaumont.

Objectives

My goal is to establish myself as a player: to master left-arm wrist spin, to play franchise cricket, and to play county cricket at senior level long term. I want to keep developing my all-round game, gaining experience and learning from others. I am a team player: I study the game in my own time, use failure as feedback, and commit to adding value to my team.
